New iMac Lab

By Bentsion Janashvili

Recently Bramson ORT College renewed its MAC technology by introducing new iMAC computers in its design lab. This is a long-awaited change and had both teachers and students excited. New Macs will serve as primary design stations used in all Graphic Design, Web Design and Web Animation classes.

New Intel Core Duo based iMacs support both MAC OS X and Windows Vista operating systems. It allows for a smooth operation with such hefty design programs as Adobe Photoshop CS2, Adobe Illustrator CS2 and Macromedia web and animation programs. iMACs feature  20” cinema displays, providing students with ample desktop space required by every design program.

Bramson ORT’s high-speed internet access gives web design students ability to download files from the web, or upload files to school’s server to view their web sites on line in real time. Graphic Design students enjoy working with high-resolution files, as iMACs come with tremendous processing power and 1GB of RAM. Sophisticated classroom network enables students to share files between machines and print their work on a large format color inkjet printer.

Bramson ORT College is the first in its category of schools to have such technology in New York Area. Students use the same powerful hardware and software used in graphic, web and publishing industries. This helps students to start their careers in advertising, web and graphics design, as soon as they graduate, with no significant change in hardware or software.
